Poll results: This kit is weird but wonderful....No it's just weird
Some like it, some don’t. The weird part is that alien line going over the chest part… Not very ”Arsenal” like but I’m sure there’s a reason for it… Anyway compared to the first rumoured kit, this is a little bit better but like every season, we grow to like our home kits anyway…but I still think this kit sucks!
Poll Results: We're the team in red and white, not red, white and black!
The song that is sung by many on a matchday must never change and the fact that basically we are the only red kitted team in england to have a red shirt with white sleeves must stay that way! Get rid of the black bands on sleeve and stick to the tradional old red wine jersey with white sleeves. Our kit is a kit of class and adding those black bands just turns it into a rugby shirt. The simple fact that there is a drop of black on the collar drives me nuts! Below I edited that same kit with one or two minor adjustments and I’m confident we would all just be happy with it.
I remember first watching arsenal properly, probably about….four years ago, and we had a midfield of Hleb, Rosicky, Flamini, Gilberto Silva and Fabregas, and Alex Song and Abou Diaby where among the substitutes. Alex was probably 20 years old with his droopy eyes….Bushy hairstyle….Shy look on his face where he drops his head down with almost like a frown and only lifts his eyes up….what is with that?….
Then in 2007-2008, we lost them all, even Rosicky faded away and we were left with Fabregas. I thought I had seen one of the best passers in the world when Fabregas dominated the assists chart and broke the defence line. At the time, Song was quite a strange and awkward replacement. Like all youth players at the ripe age though, it seems Wenger thought it was time to play him. Fans were laughing. Critics were writing all sorts and we were all begging for new talents in the defencive midfield position.
But we didn’t see it coming. Like usual we see the players current ability being terrible but we soon realise that the technique of a player is actually doing us good. Song was making great tackles and trying to win over the fans. I remember he got to such a stage where he won the fans over completely by scoring a header against Portsmouth before leaving for the African Cup of Nations. That’s when we realised his defensive abilities in midfield were needed! We sang the song of Alex Song: “ONE SONG! Theres only one Song bilong! Theres only one Song Bilong…”
I found a video on YouTube made by a brilliant Arsenal fan. As I watched I saw glimpse of Alex in that bad kit we had with the red sleeves and white stripes running down them. Anyway in that kit he played a ball along the ground….about 30 yards from goal that split at least eights opposition players apart to Van Persie. And I wonder…just how did he wonder forward so much to attack??
With rising talents came the hairstyles, and stylish goals too, so far he has scored 10 Goals for Arsenal as a Defencive Midfielder and in an interview about a season ago he claimed he wanted to add more goals to his name. This is back when everyone was chipping in goals for Arsenal because of our weaker strike force.
The other day I watched an interview with Alex Song where he said the boss told him to focus moe on his defencive side, which makes sense seeing how bad we defend at times. But because of his consistent work rate and focus on winning the ball more, he is able to quicjly release and start a counter attack.
More so, this season, how many times have we seen the midfeild stuck outside the 18 yard box and not be able to find Van Persie? Song has been able to fling the ball at his left foot to score a volley TWICE this season against the merseyside clubs and he also helped Henry score a historic goal we will all remember forever. Not to forget his Messi moment against Borussia Dortmund and setting up a header for RVP. He has now made 18 assists to date in his career with more yet to come.
Readers…And fellow fans of Arsenal, we lost Cesc Fabregas, and we never really replaced Nasri. But…sometimes we don’t realise what we already have and what we have in our team is a legend in the making in Alex Dimitri Song.
I guess its simple….lol, no really i think we can really by some quality this summer with the cash we have. We haven’t really replaced nasri and we need a back up for song and diaby who seems injured every fortnight. Anyway here it is….
Caulker (We need an english centre back, simply put)
If we can sign at least 3 of these players i will be convinced we have the suqad to challenge next season.
